Welcome 27 April - 1 May 2020

Monday 27 April 2020

Welcome to a new week.    I hope you are all keeping well and looking out for each other.  That is the most important thing we can do for each other at the moment.  New work has been posted for this week.  There is no pressure to complete all of the activities but they are here for you if you would like to do them.  I hope the people who are using Nessy are enjoying it.  If there are any difficulties logging in or anybody did not get the email with the login details please let me know.  For anyone still interested in using it just contact me and I will forward the email with login details to you.

There are some posts in your Seesaw folders and I will be adding to them this week.  Please check your folders regularly for suggestions of games or activities.

I would love to see some of your work or hear from you.  Work can be sent to me by logging into your Seesaw account or by email – msfoleyschool@gmail.com.  If anyone is having difficulty with Seesaw and trying to log in please let me know and I can help you.

Remember to stay safe and look after each other.  Keep your 2 metre distance, wash your hands and stay at home.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.
Take care
Ms Foley

Seesaw

Seesaw is an e-portfolio which can be used to keep a record of class work.  Some classes already use it in school and are familiar with it.  For some of you, this will be new but it is very easy.  If older brothers or sisters who already use Seesaw know how to use it, perhaps they might help their younger siblings to set it up and explain how to use it.  If parents feel the children can access Seesaw from an Ipad or laptop, an individual access code has been sent to each child.   You will need the latest version of Seesaw if you download it as an app.  This code is valid until June and you can post pictures of your work and doing some writing  for me to look at.  When you download the app, click I'm a student and ender your access code.  This will bring you into my class page.  When you see your name, click on it and you will be able to post your work there.  I will also be able to send you all messages and feedback on your work too!  If there are any problems setting up or using  Seesaw please email me at msfoleyschool@gmail. com.

Each child will only have access to their own work.  When work is posted online, only the teacher and the child who has posted it can see it.  Therefore it is confidential and a safe medium for sharing work with me for correction.

Primary Planet & Newsflash Resources

Primary Planet is an online magazine which is educational and fun.    There are activities posted daily on this website including quizzes and writing activities based on the monthly editions of the magazine, so it is well worth checking in daily. They have also started doing a daily mental maths quiz which is proving very popular.   https://www.theprimaryplanet.ie/teachers/april-resource-pack-issue-51/

Primary Planet is aimed the senior end of the school (8 to 12 years) and for younger pupils they have another online magazine called Newsflash which is also available online and there are daily activities each day on the website.

Welcome

Monday 20 April 2020

Good morning and welcome back after the Easter holidays!  I hope you all enjoyed your break and had lots of nice Easter eggs too.

I have updated work for you all to complete this week.  I will also be posting some work in Seesaw for you over the week, so if you get a chance you can check your folder for videos, messages or worksheets.  As I have said before I know you are all busy with work for your class teachers so there is no pressure to complete any of the activities I have posted, but they are here for you if you wish to do them.

You should have got an email about Nessy.  If you haven't, let me know and I will forward it to you.  As I explained in the email, Nessy is a literacy programme which we will have access to until 12th June and helps with reading, spelling and writing.

For fourth and fifth class maths, it is important that you check your Seesaw folder each day for a short video about your maths.  I will also post some dictation work for fourth and fifth class English this week in your Seesaw folder  on Wednesday so remember to check it.

Any questions about work or completed work can be sent me to at msfoleyschool@gmail. com.  Also a photo of work can be uploaded onto Seesaw if you wish.

I hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.  I hope you are all helping out at home and doing some jobs each day.  Continue to be kind and look after each other.  Don't forget to get out for some fresh air each day and enjoy the lovely sunshine we have at the moment.  Please keep washing your hands and remember the two metre rule.
